Disability equipment services are services that assess people for daily living equipment, and this is mainly carried out by Occupational Therapists. They provide access to disability aids and equipment for elderly people who have difficulty in carrying out everyday activities due to a physical or sensory disability, or chronic ill health. Special equipment for older people with disabilities can include mobility aids and mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, stair lifts, walking frames, and walking sticks. Household aids and disability equipment can include hand rails, bathing aids, eating and food preparation aids. Qualified Occupational Therapists help older people to make their home safer, and increase their confidence about getting around and managing at home.
