Pension Credit is a means tested benefit that contributes towards a guaranteed level of income for people aged 60 and over. From 2010 the age from which you will be able to get Pension Credit will gradually change to 65, in line with the change to women’s State Pension Age. People aged 65 and over, who have some savings, may also be eligible for a savings credit. You may get it by itself if your income is too high to get guarantee credit, or you may get some savings credit on top of guarantee credit. If you receive Pension Credit it is likely you will also be eligible for help with your housing costs. (See the section on Help with Housing Costs). Contact the Pension Service webpages or the Pension Credit Freephone 0800 99 1234 to see if you are eligible for this benefit.
