Intermediate Care
Intermediate care includes a range of short-term treatment or rehabilitative services designed to promote independence, reduce the length of time you might be in hospital unnecessarily, or help you to avoid unnecessary admissions to hospital. You can be provided with intermediate care in hospital, a special unit or in your own home.
Intermediate care services are for a short time and usually last no longer than six weeks. They are paid for by the NHS and you should not be charged personally for them.
