Fairer Charging
Fairer Charging is the policy that governs the way local councils operate their means tested financial assistance to help pay for services to older people in their own homes.<br /><br />Social Services Fairer Charging financial assessment determines the amount a claimant should contribute towards the care services (e.g. meals on wheels) or the Direct Payment that they receive. It can also provide help with housing related support charges (Support Charge) like the provision of a Scheme Manager in sheltered housing. Anyone in receipt of Housing Benefit will not have to pay their Support Charge, but people with capital below the upper limit may still apply for a financial assessment.
