Advice & information services

Services that offer advice and/or information to older people to help them deal with problems in their home, or choose, find and afford whatever alternative housing, care or support they are looking for.

In the main services are free and independent; these may be run by central or local government, or by non-frofit organisations. Sometimes they will be provided free by commercial organisations, who may later earn income from any services you buy from them. A smaller number are services for which you pay; where these are advertised by EAC and FirstStop, we make this clear on the site.

HousingCare.org’s national database of home services helps to map advice information services whose remit includes housing advice to older people. Our aim is to describe and publicise services in sufficient detail to help potential service users to identify the most appropriate one to meet their needs and preferences.
