Who it is for?
Home Improvement Loans are available to homeowners who require repairs, adaptations and improvement works to be carried out on their properties.

We can assist a diverse range of customers - we have no upper age limits and we can lend to people in receipt of various types of income, which may include benefits and pensions.
As we deliver the scheme on behalf of our council partners, the eligibility criteria relating to appropriate work can vary, so please contact us for more information.

What it costs:
There are a number of borrowing options tailored to suit your circumstances. The loans officer will work with you to decide on the best option for you.
A fee nominal fee is payable which includes securing the charge at Land Registry, full details will be discussed with you and the fee is only payable if you proceed with the loan.

- we will speak with you to determine if we may be able to help, and if it is likely that we can proceed, we will arrange to carry out a full financial review.
What to expect then:
We will arrange a time with you to carry out a financial review either online, or via a home visit. At the appointment we will run through your income, expenditure, savings and borrowings.
A credit check will be undertaken together with verification of property ownership.
Subject to approval of a loan, we will send you a Loan Illustration pack. If you decide to proceed you will be asked to sign and return a copy of the loan application.
On receipt of your signed application we will issue you with your formal Loan Offer pack, which includes the main loan agreement and a Legal Charge.
Once we have received all signed paperwork we will submit an application to register our Charge to H M Land Registry. When we have received confirmation that the loan has been secured, we will notify you.
