The Longmead Centre is a spacious and modern building which welcomes people 55 and over who are looking for an exciting programme of social and recreational events. We also offer a range of classes designed to promote health and wellbeing. The Centre is open five days a week, Monday to Friday from 9am - 4pm. Our rooms are available for hire, details are towards the end of this web page.

Coffee Shop

The coffee shop is set in our comfortable dining area where you can relax over a coffee and enjoy one of our freshly baked cakes and savouries. This is the focal point of the Centre where people can catch up with friends and check out the regular events and activities.

Dining

The Centre has an attractive restaurant style dining room where you can enjoy a wide range of freshly prepared meals and snacks at very competitive prices.

In addition, we have special occasion lunches followed by live entertainment.

Our self service restaurant is open from 11.30am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Activities

Tai Chi

This is a gentle form of exercise for all abilities proven to benefit health and improve balance and concentration.

The beginners class is held on Tuesday mornings at 11.15am with our highly qualified instructor.

Line Dancing

Join us for this very popular class held every Wednesday morning.  It is a lively session with great music and friendly people.

Stay Young Exercise Classes

These run on Monday and Friday mornings; both are suited to all abilities.  Stand up or sit down for the exercises, make new friends and enjoy the music.

Whist Drive

This is played weekly on Tuesday afternoon.  If you haven't played before we can help you out.

Arts and Crafts Group

Regardless of your ability you are welcome to join our friendly Arts and Crafts group on Wednesday afternoons.

Bingo

Come and have an afternoon of fun at our cash prize bingo; each end of month session pays double money!

Indoor Bowls

Come and join us on Monday and Thursday afternoons and have some fun.

Chess

We have a chess group which meets once a fortnight on Tuesday mornings.  If you would like to join them just come along, new members are always welcome.

Games

Our activities officer ensures there is plenty of fun every day with armchair bowls, skittles, quizzes, Wii Fit and competitions.

Computer Classes

Our computer classes are run from beginner through to intermediate level.

The computer classes support advances in technology, the changing needs of the local community as well as supporting our local Community.
