An antiques market is also held on Thursdays.The town also has a Co-operative Food and a Sainsbury’s Local, but many supermarkets have not been allowed to open large stores, with the town instead preferring independent shops, cafes and inns. Many of these shops are housed in picturesque buildings from the 15th century.
Penkridge prides itself on its strong community spirit and the town regularly hosts events held by community groups. Several societies also hold meetings in the town centre’s buildings, so you can continue your current hobby or even find a new one. If you’re looking to stay active, there are three golf courses in the surrounding area and a number of sports clubs.
