Write to Remember

Hiya
I'm Sarah, founder of Write to Remember and facilitator of our multiple workshops and courses that get people writing their life stories, fiction short stories, personal and dada poetry, story web-weaving (connected reminiscence) and creative journalling for well-being.

These are available as six week courses or introductory workshops.

I have been passionate about hearing people's stories ever since I was a barmaid way back in the last century. My personal experience means I am an advocate of suporting folk to find their voice to tell their tale and have been a Human Library Book for a few years now. My teaching work led me on to my PhD, which I started in 2022. But fear not, I don't get all academic in my classes, which are always user-led. Research shows that physically committing a personal story to paper has positive benefits for mental health. Even the very act of hand writing a journal slows the brain and reduces anxiety. But more of all, the magic that happens when people connect through their experiences is something I truly value, particularly post-Covid. We have more to connect than divide us.

Workshops have been called 'inspiring', 'absolutely wonderful', 'incredibly positive', 'I have a new desire to write more.'

And as a PS, if there's budget to create booklets of the stories we've worked on, this creates such a sense of acheivement beyond the sharing of stories, something participants can keep.
