Seated exercise class that provides physical and mental stimulation

Seated dancing is a fun way to exercise and research has proven that music helps people living with dementia.  I use a range of music, which inspires dances ranging from Ballet to Russian Cossack Dancing and everything in-between.
I   customise each class to the individual home, as some residents respond to quieter classical music, others love the more upbeat numbers, or a mixture of genres.

We start with a warm up that focuses on joint mobilisation and gentle stretching, then move on to slightly more energetic movements, such as seated marching and hand clapping. Dances are easy to follow and the moves stimulate co-ordination.  I use equipment, including soft balls and resistance bands and modify the exercises to suit different abilities.

Suitable for Residential Care Homes, Nursing Homes, Sheltered Housing and Day Centres.
