R.C. Thomas

R.C. Thomas is a writer, artist and educator providing creative writing and art workshops in Plymouth. He is Plymouth Laureate of Words 2025-27.

Through fun, playful and engaging activities and excercises, R.C. aims to ignite the creative soul he believes lives within us all and encourage curiosity, imagination and outside-of-the-box thinking. His workshops are bespoke, not only to the ability level of the group, but the individual, as he takes care throughout his sessions to ensure everyone's unique needs are met. His workshops bring both creative writing and art together. The 1.5 hour workshops, for example, are generally split into a one-hour writing session in poetry, fiction, or non fiction, and a thirty-minute art session for participants to present their writing for artistic display in the home. However, he is happy work with you to facilitate a workshop that meets yours and your residents' needs. He can also create workshops around specific themes or holidays.

R.C. Thomas has experience providing workshops for a range of ages, abilities and experience, and has worked with the elderly, including dementia residents. He has also worked with neurological conditions. He has an Enhanced DBS certificate, enabling him to work with vulnerable adults supervised.

His own experience as a writer includes publication in international creative writing journals, four published books of poetry, and a BA (with First Class Honours) in Creative Writing from the University of Plymouth.

R.C. can also provide poetry readings. These can also be incorporated into the practical workshops. Please enquire regarding duration and fee.
