Imagine Yourself Young Again
Many athletes including Wayne Rooney, Jonny Wilkinson and Andy Murray, to name but a few, practice visualisation as part of their training schedule. They see themselves in their mind’s eye winning their game, scoring that point, achieving their goals.
Science now acknowledges that vivid visualisation exercises activate the associated muscles as if they were actually carrying out the activity whilst stimulating neurons in the brain helping to create new connections.
I am not suggesting that residents play in the World Cup or win Wimbledon, however by utilising relaxing and enjoyable hypnotherapy techniques I will guide residents down memory lane; not only walking along a beach that they enjoyed decades ago, but re-experiencing it - the warm sand, the cool water, the fresh sea breeze, the happy times - running along the beach, walking up the sand dunes, breathing in the fresh air.
Then together we create new memories, associating residents in each other’s memories from years gone by, encouraging familiarity and creating new old friends.
Sessions may include background music and some sing-along-songs. This programme exercises the body, the mind, encourages new friendships and is fun for all who join in.
