Bernie on the Box
Bernie engages with his audience by playing well known Scottish tunes on the accordion (think “White Heather Club” and you will not be far off the mark). Other styles and tunes sometimes creep in too. He also provides large-print song sheets for familiar Scottish Songs (eg Mairi’s Wedding, the Skye Boat Song) and usually includes a musical quiz in each session. These quizzes are based on music from the past, and it is not uncommon for residents in care homes and day centres to do better at them than their carers.
