The Kitchen Companions

Food and Friendship, meals on wheels

What does it do?

The Kitchen companions is creating a better way of recieving a hot lunch at home.  Promoting a healthy diet, social connection and independent living.

We want to make a real difference to the lived experience of many who eat alone and create meaningful human connection through food, it's at the heart of what we do.

Our service is simple, we take food to people and prepare it in their home. Time is given to chat, make friends and build trust.  As the same companion visits the same person, they get to really know them; not just on a social level, but an intuitive one. They can recognise when someone isn’t themselves, and respond as necessary.

Our service is built on four pillars of care. We support health by providing a hot nutritious meal, we help maintain independence by building social connections, our welfare checks give peace of mind, and we make referrals when needed.
