What does it do?

Discretionary disabled facility top-up grant - for adaptations as specified by your occupational therapist. which are above the mandatory grant maximum. We will only consider these grants in exceptional circumstances and where you have explored all other funding avenues and options. The maximum amount of discretionary top-up grant available is £30,000 and we assess eligibility on a case-by-case basis

Discretionary adaptation grant - for fast-track or minor adaptations to a maximum of £5,000, for example to speed up hospital discharge.

Who it is for?

You can apply for help if you are unable to use your kitchen, bathing or toilet facilities or you are unable to access your home or move around freely inside because of your disability or poor health.

Where it is available?

Local service (Rushmoor).

How to access or apply for it:

To apply for help you will need to contact the occupational therapy (OT) team at Hampshire County Council on 0300 5551378.

Private sector housing:
Tel: 01252 398 980
Email: privatehousing@rushmoor.gov.uk

What to expect then:

A member of the occupational therapy team will carry out a short telephone assessment and tell you what happens next: this may include a visit to your home.

If the occupational therapy team thinks that, on the information you have provided, you may have to make a contribution towards the work, they will ask you to contact our private sector housing team for a grant enquiry form. This will allow us to do a preliminary means test on your income and establish if you qualify for grant assistance.

If the occupational therapy team thinks that you will qualify for a grant, as you are on a low income, they will give you the grant enquiry form after assessing your needs. You will need to complete this form and return it to us at the council offices in Farnborough, so that we can carry out a preliminary means test. If you have any problems completing the form, please contact our private sector housing team using the details on this page and we will arrange to come to your home to help you.

The occupational therapist will decide what adaptations are required to meet your needs and will send a referral to us to process your application.
