Clarity Homecare

Home care services across the UK. Domiciliary care

What does it do?

Clarity Homecare provides visiting care, live-in care and specialist care to help people remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes.

Support can include personal care, washing and dressing, medication assistance, meal preparation, mobility support, companionship, shopping, attending appointments, housekeeping and respite care for family carers.

Specialist support is also available for people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, neurological conditions and complex health needs, as well as those requiring palliative care, end-of-life care or support following an illness, operation or hospital discharge.

Care can be arranged through occasional or regular home visits, several visits each day or full-time live-in care, depending on the person’s needs.

Who it is for?

The service is for adults who need extra help to continue living safely and independently at home.

This may include:

  • Older people who are finding everyday tasks more difficult
  • People living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or another long-term condition
  • People with reduced mobility or a higher risk of falling
  • People recovering from an illness, operation, stroke or hospital stay
  • People who need palliative or end-of-life care
  • People who feel lonely or isolated and would benefit from companionship
  • People who need short-term or ongoing help with their daily routine
  • Families who need respite or additional support with caring responsibilities
  • Couples who want to remain together at home

There is no set age, diagnosis or condition that someone must have before asking about care. The local team assesses each person’s circumstances and discusses what support may be suitable.

Where it is available?

National service (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales).

What it costs:

The cost depends on the type of care required, the number and length of visits, the level of support needed and the rates charged by the local Clarity Homecare office. Live-in care and support involving complex needs are priced differently from regular visiting care.

Clarity Homecare offers a free, no-obligation assessment. After discussing the person’s needs, the local office will explain the charges and provide a clear quotation before care is agreed.

Some people pay for their care privately. Depending on their circumstances and eligibility, financial help may also be available through:

  • Local authority funding following a care needs and financial assessment
  • Direct payments
  • NHS Continuing Healthcare for eligible people with complex health needs
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • A personal health budget

Anyone who may need help paying for care should contact their local council for a care needs assessment or speak to their GP or healthcare team if their needs are mainly health-related. The Clarity Homecare team can explain the available options, but decisions about eligibility are made by the relevant council, NHS service or government department.

How to access or apply for it:

People can enquire directly without needing a GP referral or formal diagnosis.

They can:

  • Enter their postcode or town on the Clarity Homecare website to find their nearest local office
  • Contact the local office by telephone or through its online enquiry form
  • Use the national website’s “Enquire Now” or “Get Started” option
  • Contact Clarity Homecare on behalf of a family member, with their involvement and consent where appropriate

A member of the local team will speak with the person or their family about the help they are looking for and arrange a free, no-obligation care assessment.

People seeking council-funded care can also contact their local authority for a care needs assessment. Those arranging and paying for care privately can contact Clarity Homecare directly.

What to expect then:

After the initial enquiry, a member of the local Clarity Homecare team will contact the person or their family to discuss their circumstances and arrange a free assessment.

During the assessment, the care manager will ask about the person’s daily routine, health conditions, mobility, medication, personal care needs, home environment, dietary requirements and personal preferences. A family member can also take part where appropriate.

The next steps are:

  1. The local team identifies the type and amount of support needed.
  2. A personalised care plan is created and agreed with the person and their family.
  3. The office explains the cost and agrees a suitable start date.
  4. The person is matched with an appropriate care professional.
  5. Care begins at the agreed times.
  6. The care plan is reviewed and can be changed if the person’s needs or routine change.

Where care is urgently required, it may sometimes be arranged within 24 to 48 hours after the assessment, depending on the person’s needs and local carer availability.

Additional information:

Clarity Homecare provides flexible, person-centred care through a network of local care teams. The aim is to help people keep their independence, routines and connection to their home and community while receiving the practical support they need.

Carers are directly employed, trained and DBS checked. Local services are regulated by the relevant care regulator and follow safeguarding, quality-monitoring and care-planning procedures.

Care can start with a small amount of weekly support and be increased, reduced or changed as the person’s needs develop. Whenever possible, local teams provide familiar carers so the person can build trust and feel comfortable with the people coming into their home.

The initial assessment is free and there is no obligation to proceed. People can use the postcode search on the Clarity Homecare website to find their nearest office and check whether care is available in their area.
