Chatterbox Action Against Loneliness

Telephone Befriending across the UK.

What does it do?

Chatterbox is our award-winning, flagship befriending service designed to support those who find themselves isolated, vulnerable, and/or alone in later life. Chatterbox Clients are matched with Volunteer Befrienders with whom they organise a weekly phone call at a mutually convenient time. Our befrienders offer clients a listening ear and companionship, as well as being able to sign post individuals to other agencies who may be able to offer further support as and when appropriate. Befrienders go through comprehensive training and eligibility checks, including returning a clear DBS, before they are able to join the service.

Who it is for?

This service is for anyone who would benefit from a weekly telephone call from a friendly volunteer Befriender. We have a specific focus on those who are socially isolated or at risk of becoming so, lonely, a carer or someone adjusting to life after caring, recently bereaved, or living with a life-limiting illness, but will welcome anyone to the service who we believe we can help.
