Bolton U3A

What does it do?

The Third Age is the period of time after the First Age (meaning childhood) and the Second Age of full-time employment and/or parental responsibility.

By joining the local U3A you will become a member of a growing, dynamic, outward-looking organisation which has a positive and creative approach to retirement.

We meet on 4th Friday of the Month, 2pm – 4pm., at St Andrew and St George URC, St Georges Road, Bolton, BL1 2BS.

We invite guest speakers to talk to us on a variety of subjects. Our members also contribute, either singly or, in groups when, for example, our choir helped by other groups provides an entertainment.

Our membership continues to grow and is approximately 190 at the moment.
We have various interest groups including:

Archaeology, Art Appreciation, Basic Italian, Biology, Craft (card)
Creative Writing, European Studies, Film Forum, Gardening, French, History, Italian, Literature, Local History, Play Reading, Philosophy, Poetry for Pleasure, Recorded Music, Scrabble, Saturday Ramblers. These Groups meet once a month (some more often) usually in the Town Centre or in Group Leaders homes. No experience is required and the emphasis is on learning for fun.
