Nottingham Hard of Hearing Social Group

What does it do?

Meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 10am-2pm at Nottinghamshire Deaf Society, 22 Forest Road West, Nottingham, NG7 4EQ. 

Outings, speakers, lunches, games, and more arranged regulary as well as having some just social meetings. There is also help with hearing aid care available

Previous activities include visiting the hearing dogs in Yorkshire, having a guided bird spotting tour of a nature reserve, pub lunches, visiting White Post Farm and Nottingham Contemporary Arts, first aid training, having a private tour of the Galleries of Justice and cricket ground in West Bridgford, strolling round Nottingham castle and the Nottingham Riviera, craft making and aromatherapy and much more.

Who it is for?

Adults with hearing loss.

Where it is available?

Local service (Gedling, Mansfield, Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Newark and Sherwood, Nottingham, Rushcliffe).

What it costs:

Free to join. Lunches at Notts Deaf society from £3 and outings/transport at own expense. No help with costs available although we try to get group rates where possible.

How to access or apply for it:

They can just come along (although best to check what we're doing). Or if they would prefer to drop us an email or call before they come then this is fine too.

What to expect then:

A very warm welcome and lots of friendly faces.

Additional information:

Everyone at the social group has some form of hearing loss and most wear hearing aids, cochlear implants or BAHAs. Therefore everyone understands the need for good communication and don't mind if you have to ask for something to be repeated. 

There is also a loop system, disabled access and disabled toilet on the premesis.
