On-ward Service

Supporting patients in Hospital,

What does it do?

We train our volunteers to offer befriending to older people on the ward, this is really welcomed particularly when family live far away, or friends can only visit during the evenings and weekends. Our volunteers play an important role in providing company but also in keeping minds active by reading, talking and playing games with patients.

Royal Voluntary Service can help older people maintain their independence and stay involved in the local community.

We have volunteers across Lancashire who offer help and support so older people can stay independent at home in Preston, Bolton, Lancaster, Southport, Clitheroe, Wigan and the surrounding areas.

See our local services below but we may be able to offer you more. If you can't find something suitable for you or a loved one then just ask.

As everyone is different, Royal Voluntary Service can tailor support to your individual needs. We’ll visit you at home and work with you to create a support package that suits you.

All our volunteers have been DBS checked.
