Befriending service for older people in Darlington

What does it do?

The primary objective of the scheme is to form a trusting relationship, which in turn will reduce isolation and loneliness.

How befriending works

Our service is very simple. We offer companionship on a weekly basis, be it at home, in sheltered accommodation or in a care home. There are no boundaries.

For client on this scheme we also offer a driver service to take people shopping, to hospital and doctor appointments, to visit their loved ones who are now in care or to visit us here at Age UK Darlington for one of our clubs or have lunch with one of our befrienders.

Who it is for?

Our aim is to deliver a service that responds to the needs of the most disadvantaged population within the Borough of Darlington.

Where it is available?

Local service (Darlington).
