Recreational and social activities for Older People

What does it do?

We provide a variety of activities for older people, that allow them to socialise in a friendly, safe and warm environment. We try and offer something for everyone. All the people that currently attend are very friendly.
Activities include a variety of different exercise classes suitable for people of all abilities and taylored to meet the needs of the older generation - these are Total Body Work Out, Exercise for All, Pilates for Beginners,Zumba Gold and Yoga.
We also run a lunch group, every Tuesday (during term time) 12.30 - 1.30pm and provide a hot 2 course meal, with Tea & coffee.
Other activities include our Knit & Natter group Tuesday 2.00pm - 4.00pm. Everyone welcome including beginners.

We also hope to set up a Social group in the near future that would offer a variety of activities including arts & crafts, baking, guest speakers and trips.

Who it is for?

Fairfax Community Centre runs and hosts a variety of activities for people of all ages. We are a very friendly Centre and welcome new comers with open arms.

All activities/services listed on this site are aimed at older people. Everyone is welcome to come along and have a go.

What it costs:

One of our main aims is to ensure that all of our activities are affordable. There is a small charge for each session which is variable depending on the activity.
Lunch Club - £3.50 per person
Knit & Natter - £2.80 per person
Pilates - £3.00 per session
Exercise for All - £3.50 per session
Total Body Work out - £3.80 per session

How to access or apply for it:

Fairfax Community Centre is accessible by car, and the local bus stops at the top of the road. Buses are every 10minutes to getting to & from the Centre is easy.

There are no waiting lists for any of our groups & everyone is welcome.

Booking is not essential for most of our groups, however should you wish to attend the lunch club, please book your place so that we can cater for everyone. We are able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

What to expect then:

There are no joining fees and if a group is not for you or not quite what you were expecting there is no obligation to keep attending. We welcome fresh ideas and fresh faces at all of our classes.
