Information & Advice
Information & Advice for older people in the Horsham areaWhat does it do?
Our team
can offer information and/or advice on a range of subjects particularly
relevant to older people. These include:
Welfare Benefits (for people who have reached state retirement age)*
Finding and paying for care at home or in a care home
Housing Options
Leisure and Social Activities
Living Well with Dementia
Caring for an older person
Practical help in the home and garden
Getting a Blue Badge
Much of our work involves supporting people over state retirement age to claim any welfare benefits they may be entitled to. In 2018/19 we helped local older people to claim £815,941 in benefits that would otherwise have gone unclaimed.
If for any reason we are unable to advise you, we will help you find other organisations that can assist. Whilst our service is offered mainly over the phone, in certain circumstances we will offer you appointments here at Lavinia House or in your own home.
*People over the age of 50 requiring benefit advice who have not yet reached state pension age are advised to contact the Citizens’ Advice Service on 03444 771171
