Advice and social care services available online

What does it do?

A new website which enables Doncaster residents to compare and review social care services.

The site is an online supermarket of adult social care providers serving the borough.

The website has been developed in response to the Government's 'personalisation' initiative under which everyone who has funding for social care is allocated a personal budget which they spend on the services they require. It will also benefit people who pay for their own social care by listing local suppliers in one, easy-to-use directory. Those who have purchased services can also leave reviews and award 'stars' for service, increasing the information available to other users.

The site has been designed with input from social care users and has a clear, easy to navigate style and a step-by-step video showing how to use its features.

As well as listing the providers of services ranging from personal assistance to specialist transport, the site is designed to be a hub of information and advice with a users' forum and contact details for relevant NHS and Council departments.

The website is part of a region-wide initiative supported by 15 local authorities across Yorkshire and The Humber. Each of the authorities will have its own section within the umbrella website.
