Outdoor Companionship

Carer-assisted walks and outings with experienced people who care.

What does it do?

We provide help and companionship with walking, visits to locations of choice, shopping, and encouragement to access the outdoors for exercise and fresh air, thus helping to improve health and well-being. We can also help with domestic tasks such as cleaning and preparing meals. We provide transport in our own cars if we take you out.

Who it is for?

Anyone that requires help with walks, trips and visits, hobbies, shopping trips and general companionship or help with domestic tasks such as cleaning and preparing meals. Our service is also a great help if you are a carer as it provides you with a break from your caring role.

Where it is available?

Local service serving within 30km of SK65LW.

What it costs:

£14 per hour Monday to Friday, plus mileage and any expenses that may occur while the service is provided.  £16 per hour on Saturday and Sunday .
You can apply for help with funding through your local council social services team.

How to access or apply for it:

Contact us by phone or email or use the contact form on our website.

What to expect then:

Needs and particular preferences will be discussed and we can then arrange an informal visit to suit you, which is an opportunity for us to meet in person and to discuss your needs in further detail.

Additional information:

Would you like help to experience more of the outdoors with someone to accompany you?
The benefits of walking, and fresh air, are well known and it is often recommended by doctors to help maintain a healthy heart and to promote well-being.

We provide a service to assist people with walks in the local park or the countryside, to visit places of interest and local attractions, or to spend a couple of hours out for lunch. We can also provide a sit-in companionship service for someone who wants to stay in, or to allow their carer some time out, and we can help with domestic tasks such as cleaning, preparing meals and shopping.

We realised there are many people who would like to be able to experience the outdoors, and enjoy it’s benefits, but who need some help with it, and there are many carers who need regular breaks from their caring role. We are based in Romiley in Stockport and can provide our service in a wide surrounding area.

We both:
•are experienced carers, having worked in residential environments and in the community,
•have NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care,
•have been DBS (formerly CRB) checked,
•have Emergency First Aid At Work and Wilderness First Aid certificates,
•love walking and the outdoors.

We are also listed on Stockport Council's Adult Social Care Website: www.mycaremychoice.org.uk.

We can tailor carer assisted walks or visits to your needs and ability and you can choose where you want to go, or we can suggest places to visit. It could be anything from a couple of hours, half a day or even a whole day out.

Contact Alison or Peter to arrange an outing, to discuss your needs and preferences or, if you would like to arrange to meet up with us for an informal chat, we will be happy to do so.
