Home care

What does it do?

What is home care? Home care is available from 7am to 10pm, 7 days a week.
Home care can help with things like:
  • Getting up and going to bed
  • Washing and bathing
  • Shopping and meals
  • Dealing with mail and paying bills
  • Laundry and housework
  • Taking medication
  • Keeping in touch with family and friends
People often need just a few of these things, so home care aims to be flexible to meet your individual needs.

Who it is for?

People in South Tyneside who need help at home.

Where it is available?

Local service (South Tyneside).

What it costs:

Depending on your income, you may have to pay for your home care. Charges are based on your financial circumstances and ability to pay. This is worked out by a Financial Assessment Officer who will visit you to work out if you have to pay towards the costs of your care and if so, how much this will be.

How to access or apply for it:

Before you receive home care, we will need to assess your needs to see what level of care you should receive.
