Mental Health Services for Older People Canterbury

What does it do?

Community Mental Health Teams for Older People(CMHTOP) provide a single point of entry to a number of mental health services to older adults. We also provide services to any individual with a diagnosis of dementia including adults under 65.

The teams assess a patients' needs and then offer appropriate services, including memory clinics for dementia, psychology services, day therapy services and outpatient clinics.The teams include nurses, occupational therapists, consultants and administrative staff.

Referrals to the teams are made mainly through GPs and social services but some teams also accept self-referrals.
