Royston & District Community Transport offers

What does it do?

A door-to-door transport for people living in Royston and the surrounding villages of North & East Hertfordshire and South Cambridgeshire who are unable to use conventional public transport and do not have the use of a car. Volunteer drivers provide transport using their own cars and the scheme also operates a wheelchair-accessible 12/15 seat minibus and four/six seat Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). Clients can go shopping, to medical appointments, day centres, social clubs etc.

Who it is for?

The scheme is aimed at groups or individuals who are unable to use conventional public transport for reasons of age, frailty, impaired mobility or the lack of public transport. The minibus and MPV are suitable for wheelchair users who cannot transfer to a car.

What it costs:

For journeys in volunteer drivers' own vehicles, passengers make a contribution of fifty pence (50p) per mile travelled by the driver, confirmed at the time of booking. This contribution is paid to the driver at the end of the journey. The minimum charge is £4-50 per journey. Journeys in the minibus and MPV are charged at a higher rate, confirmed at the time of booking.
