Age UK Barnsley - Day Care Services

What does it do?

We have regular visits from guest speakers and presenters, including chocolate tasting and chocolate making.
Our activities at Queens Road are planned and developed to help offset the slow deterioration in mobility within older members.

Meaningful activities can promote physical and mental wellbeing and can assist greatly in promoting choice, independence and fulfilment in a clients quality of life.  We vary and change the activities regularly to reflect the range of people in the day centre.  It is vital that an activity programme be as wide as possible to encompass the varying needs of our clients.  We record and evaluate all our activities and we encourage clients to participate in discussion groups in order to evaluate how the activity was useful and enjoyable.

We strive to find activities to interest all our clients including glass painting, cross stitch book marks, childhood and old Barnsley reminiscence.  We also have Extend exercise classes on Thursday and Friday which are enjoyed by all who attend.

Who it is for?

Age UK Barnsley runs a Day Care Centre at Queens Road, Barnsley which aims to help older people continue to live at home.  We provide the opportunity for clients to socialise and meet friends.  We also offer relief for family carers on a regular basis
