Support At Home Service

Support to stay in your home.

What does it do?

The Age UK Support at Home Service aims to provide low-level practical support to clients over the age of 60, to maintain independence and retain control of their lives.
  • Support at Home Service is a floating support service.
  • It is a service that receives its funding from Wigan Council
  • The service offers practical and emotional support
The criteria for floating support intervention are that clients require help in the following areas:-
  • Assistance to maintain a tenancy
  • Problems with communication
  • Budgeting and welfare benefits
  • Safety & security in the home
  • Move on aspirations
  • Setting up and maintaining a home
  • Personal safety and risk
  • Mobility aids and adaptations
  • Accessing G.P. and Pharmacy services
  • Emotional wellbeing and mental health support
  • Social and leisure interests
  • Cultural and faith requirements
  • Any other concerns raised by a potential client
If you decide that you may benefit from the Support at Home Service we will arrange a visit to your home at a mutually convenient time to discuss your individual needs and how we would be able to help

Together with the Client we will develop a support plan which will be focussed around your individual needs aiming to put you back in control

A support worker will be allocated to you, to work along side you throughout the support. This means that a trusting relationship can be established and the client’s independence retained
