What does it do?

The Sundial Centre day care provides care, support and stimulation for older people, including those with mild to moderate dementia.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and cultures and we tailor our service to meet individual needs.

At our centre we:

 maintain and promote independence
 encourage social interaction         
 restore self-esteem         
 and provide a stimulating environment with a variety of activities

You can refer yourself as private clients, or you can be referred by social services.

 Care and support for older residents in Tower Hamlets and Hackney aged 55 and over, including those with mild to moderate dementia

Where it is available?

Local service (Hackney, Tower Hamlets).

What it costs:

If you receive a personal budget, you can use it to pay for your day care. Daily rates: 

with transport £52.02

without transport £37.58

If you visit for a full day and live in or near the boundaries of Tower Hamlets, you can use our adapted, wheelchair-accessible mini-bus to transport you to and from your home. Want to attend for half a day? We can arrange alternative transport

Lunch from  £6.00

What happens next?

We will make an appointment to visit you at home and carry out an assessment. If we’re unable to offer you day care at the Sundial, we will provide information on other organisations that may be able to help you.

Trial visit


We will also invite you on a trial visit, so you can check it suits your needs.

After you've been offered a day care place

A member of staff will visit you at home to discuss the arrangements. Things like the number of days you attend, what time to pick you up, whether we need keys to your home, and any dietary requirements.

Additional information:

We offer a light breakfast on arrival. Lunch is served 12 noon–1pm and we can cater for special diets. Tea, coffee and snacks are available in the afternoon.
