Edgware & Harrow Jewish Day Centre
What does it do?
This vibrant and busy day centre is located in a modern synagogue complex in Edgware. Staff and volunteers know everyone by name and there is a noticeably warm, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in.
Members can sit downstairs, drink tea and catch up on news while others take part in a keep fit class, art and handicrafts classes and current affairs discussions in the sports hall, before joining their friends for lunch and entertainment.
Formerly in partnership with the League of Jewish Women, the centre is now being used as a model for other day centres based at synagogues around London. Some 30 volunteers regularly help in the running of the centre.
Activities on offer include:
- keep fit
- bridge & kalooki
- hairdresser manicures & hand massage
- music appreciation
- arts and crafts
- current affairs discussion groups
- reminiscence
- daily entertainment after lunch
