Befriending Service

Befriending for older people in Wigan Borough

What does it do?

Our befriending service provides support and companionship to people across the Wigan Borough, either by home visits or by telephone. The befriending volunteer is also able to identify concerns and issues so that referrals can be made to the appropriate service or organisation.

Home visits - Our home visits take place on weekdays only, between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm and last for approximately 1 hour.
Telephone befriending - The days for telephone befriending are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, between the hours of 10.00am and 12noon, and the times of the phone calls are arranged by mutual agreement.
Care to Chat?- Our telephone befriending group chat once a month.
