Meals On Wheels

What does it do?

The Community Meals service, often known as 'meals on wheels' provides a safe and well balanced meal to help ensure people receive good nutrition on a daily basis, whatever their circumstances.
The hot meals are delivered in foil containers between 11.45 am and 1.15 pm; it should be eaten straight away and not kept warm or reheated later. The chilled meal is delivered with your hot meal; it must be put in the fridge until you are ready to eat it later.

Who it is for?

This service is for people who are unable to prepare a hot meal for themselves; it consists of a hot main meal and dessert delivered at lunch time with the option of also receiving a chilled evening meal.

Local service (Wigan).

What it costs:

There is a set charge for the meals which everyone has to pay.
At the present the rates are:

Hot main meal and dessert - £3.20 per day
Chilled evening meals -  £1.35 per day

Contact the Central Duty team from 8.45 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday or 8.45 am to 1 pm on Saturday on 01942 828777.
