Kensington Day Centre

What does it do?

Kensington Day Centre is a social centre in North Kensington offering a varied programme of activities for older people. It is run by Octavia Housing.

Kensington Day Centre currently has a membership of 30 people but has capacity for more. It also runs a lunch club for an additional 20 (or more) members and provides fresh, hot meals every day.

What the centre offers:
  • a friendly, enthusiastic, and well-trained staff team
  • familiar surroundings to meet friends
  • needs assessments, and individual care and support planning
  • sessions are tailored to individuals' requirements
  • transport to and from the centre if required
What kind of activities are available?
Staying active and socialising
  • reading - daily newspapers, books
  • gardening
  • discussion groups – such as the history talk group
  • arts and crafts activities
  • film and TV shows
Staying healthy (physical and mental well-being)
  • exercise classes such as ‘chairobics’ (exercising sitting down), and group activity games
  • weight and health monitoring
  • presentations from services such as Telecare (electronic devices to help people stay safe at home), the dementia  team, and the community meals team
  • help to make contact with services such as doctors, hospitals, opticians, dentists (staff can contact these agencies and represent you, if required)

help to make contact with services such as housing, community services and adult social care services (staff can contact these agencies and act on your behalf, if required)

What it costs:

Day Care place costs will be confirmed soon; the drop-in service is free.

Meals: a two course meal costs £4.50 with tea, three courses with tea is £5.50

Drinks: individual cups of tea are 20p per cup although the Centre do only charge 30p for up to three to four drinks all day (chilled water is free of charge).
