Adult Placement

What does it do?

In order to work out just what your needs are and whether an adult placement is the best way to meet them, we do need to carry out an assessment. Adult placements offer adults the chance to receive the care and support they need in a different setting to the family home, or the supported accommodation, in which they usually live.
Placements can be short term, lasting anything from a few hours or one night, to several weeks, enabling both the person who is cared for and their carers to have a break. Or they can be more long term, providing the opportunity for the person receiving support to live as part of the family. Emergency placements are also available.
Placements are usually arranged in the homes of carers. The exception to this are placements that only lasts a few hours which take place out and about in the community.

Who it is for?

Adult Placement is for anyone over 18 who meet the eligibility criteria who are finding it difficult to manage because of one of the following:

  • learning disability;
  • physical disability (including sensory);

  • problems associated with getting older;
  • older people with mental health problems, including dementia.
