Respite care for adults

What does it do?

Sometimes you and your family or carers might want some time apart. This could be for a few hours to a few weeks, and we call this kind of a break respite.
One way is to stay for a short time away from home, which can be in a nice quiet place where you can take some time to relax, or we can arrange for you to take part in activities and holidays.

Who it is for?

A carer is someone who looks after a relative, friend or neighbour, who needs support because of their sickness, age or disability.

Where it is available?

What to expect then:

Following an assessment you may choose how you want to take your short term break. This assessment will be carried out in a person centred way, which means in the way you want it to be done, and your dignity, privacy and lifestyle will be respected.
The amount of respite that you are entitled to will be agreed when you are assessed.
