Reablement Service

What does it do?

The service will include practical ways to help you regain mobility, confidence and life skills, such as preparing a meal.

In traditional home care, someone would visit and do these tasks for you. With reablement, we will work with you so you learn (or re-learn) important tasks you need for everyday life.

Many people who participate in a reablement programme find that afterwards they can cope very well on their own, without the need for social care support.

Who it is for?

If you have lost some of your daily living skills due to prolonged illness or injury, we will work with you to regain these tasks and your maximum degree of independence.

Where it is available?

Local service (Epping Forest, Harlow, Maldon, Tendring, Uttlesford, Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle point, Chelmsford, Colchester, Rochford).

What it costs:

The reablement service is free and lasts for up to 6 weeks.

ContactEssex is the main point of contact for telephone enquiries, and is available during the hours of 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturday

Additional information:

We do not provide equipment or adaptations for rehabilitation, treatment or needs that are not permanent or substantial.  We will provide you with information on how to access short term equipment.
