Enabling Service

helps older people to remain living independently in their own homes

What does it do?

An enabler will work with you in and around your own home to share in doing a wide variety of things. The idea of enabling is to help you to continue to do things, rather than the enabler taking over and doing them for you.

The sort of things we can help you to do include:

  • manage shopping and keep appointments
  • pay bills
  • sort paperwork and correspondence
  • help manage your housework
  • keep up social contacts
  • learn new skills
  • build your confidence after a confidence shaking experience, such as a long stay in hospital.

There are some things we cannot do, including:

  • help with personal care
  • perform medical tasks
