Dial-A-Bus (Bridport - Service 73a)

What does it do?

Dial-A-Bus offers you a specially adapted bus and trained staff to collect you from your front door and take you to Bridport town centre or on the first Wednesday of each month to Dorchester.

Who it is for?

For elderly and disabled people living in the Bride Valley who find it difficult to use existing transport services.

Where it is available?

Local service (West Dorset).

What it costs:

The first time you use the service you will need to pay a one off joining fee of £1 which helps cover some of the initial administration costs.
The fare for each return journey is £3.00 per person which is payable to the driver when you travel. Concessionary travel passes are accepted on this service.

How to access or apply for it:

To join the Dial-A-Bus scheme you need to contact Dorset Direct on 01305 221059 and give details of your needs.

What to expect then:

Dorset Direct will complete a Dial-A-Bus application with you over the phone. Once the application has been completed you will be able to make your first booking.
You can book your journey by telephoning Dorset Direct on 01305 221059 between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Monday to Friday. Bookings will be accepted on a 'first come, first served' basis, and should be made by 3pm at the latest on the day before you wish to travel.

Additional information:

Genuine personal escorts are welcome to travel providing they board, and alight, at the same place as the passenger they are accompanying. All passengers, and their escorts, will be required to make an equal contribution towards the running costs of the scheme.
