Who it is for?
Older people are often a long way away from their relatives, and of course as they get older so their friends become less able to help, so our clients are mainly elderly people.
We'll help anyone who needs help and can't obtain it from anywhere else. We cannot help anyone with mental health problems other than slight dementia, as we are not qualified to do this.
Where it is available?
Local service (Havant).
What it costs:
As we are a voluntary group we rely entirely on donations to be able to continue our service, so we do ask for donations to cover our expenses. Clients are requested to reimburse the volunteer for expenses such as mileage (at the rate approved by the Inland Revenue) and parking, and any further small donation towards Group costs, which are mainly telephone and stationery, is welcome. The volunteer will advise at the time of carrying out a request how many miles have been covered.
How to access or apply for it:
Please call Monday-Friday 9am-6pm. If no-one is available to take your call there will be an answering service for you to leave a message. We will always contact you if you leave a telephone number. Please limit telephone contact to the hours noted above.
Additional information:
We have all been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau/Independent Safeguarding Authority, which is reassuring to our clients
