Cherry Trees Resource Centre

Specialist residential care to people over the age of 50 with dementia

What does it do?

Our friendly home offers all residents their own private single room with en suite facilities for comfort and convenience. We wish to make any residents stay as comfortable as possible so home comforts including furniture can be brought in so it is made their own. Pets can also be brought in by agreement of the management.

At the home there is a Grow and Eat Project which utilises the on site allotment and provides fresh produce to use in meals and snacks throughout the day. The menu is informed by residents who are given the opportunity to have their own input into what food is provided. We also have a laundrette service.

The fully accessible building allows for many quiet and personal areas as well as offering a chance to participate in more social activities in the games area.

Outside there is a delightful sensory garden tailor-made to suit the needs of people with Dementia. The gardens are planted with lavender and honeysuckles. The centre benefits from beautiful landscape gardens with a patio area and green houses.

Family and friends are welcome at any time during the day and we can arrange private spaces for residents and their family. There is also a relaxing cafe area, staffed entirely by volunteers from the local area.

We provide a timetable of activities which is informed by our residents in monthly meetings. This can include table top activities such as crafts and games, themed events, tea dances, bingo, fetes, cinema nights, music movements, quizzes and visits from local community groups.

We also provide visits to local amenities and trips out to the cinema, theatre and sporting events. A modern hairdressing salon is available on site and the hairdresser comes in twice a week. Also at the centre is a relaxation and sensory room which is a good place to relax and unwind. Upstairs there is a large, multi functional activity room. As our care is person-centred we try to accommodate individual requests by residents and arrange the activity they would like to enjoy.
