First Contact scheme for people in Rushcliffe, Broxtowe and Gedling

What does it do?

First Contact can help with fitting smoke alarms, arranging home repairs, advice on crime reduction and keeping your home warm and other issues that matter to older people.
Working with public and voluntary services, First Contact gives people access to information and advice on a range of services including:
  • Assistance to claim benefits that they may be entitled to
  • Falls assessments and advice on falls prevention
  • Home safety and security advice
  • Repairs, adaptations and specialist equipment for homes
  • Energy saving improvements to help them keep warm and reduce energy bills
  • Housing advice
  • Information on activities and groups in their local community
  • Information on community transport schemes.

Who it is for?

To help people aged 60 and over to access the information and support they need.

Where it is available?

Local service (Gedling, Broxtowe, Rushcliffe).

What it costs:

The service is free of charge.

What to expect then:

Once the checklist is completed, the relevant services will be in contact to offer advice and information on what could be available. They may offer a home visit but will always contact a client first.
