Dorset Country Car Scheme - Thorncombe

What does it do?

This is a voluntary car scheme to connect with bus, coach and rail services and for any other essential trips for which there is no alternative transport.

Who it is for?

Anyone for whom there is no public transport service available or unable to use public transport for essential journeys.

Where it is available?

Local service (West Dorset).

What it costs:

The passenger makes a contribution of 25p per mile based upon the mileage travelled (which cannot be more than 50 miles for a round trip) and receives a receipt from the driver. The additional costs are subsidised by Dorset County Council.

How to access or apply for it:

Anyone eligible to use this service should telephone Mrs Terrettt on 01460 30464 or Mrs Holt on 01460 30428 to give details of the transport required.

What to expect then:

If the trip is eligible the local organiser will ask one of the volunteer drivers to help. The driver then makes the trip noting the total mileage (which cannot be more than 50 miles for a round trip).

Additional information:

Volunteers drive their own vehicles.
