Blandford and District U3A

What does it do?

Blandford U3A draw on the knowledge, enthusiasm and skills of over 200 members to provide a wide range of interest groups, from languages and computing to walking, singing, history and needlecraft, the majority taking place during the day and meeting in each other’s homes.  The website lists a programme of groups which shows how diverse we are and we hope to add new groups from time to time as suggestions arise from members.

Who it is for?

Membership is open to people who are no longer in full-time employment and who are free from the constraints of parenthood. In practice, U3A meets the needs of the rapidly growing number of people over the age of 50.

Where it is available?

Local service (North Dorset).

How to access or apply for it:

Contact the membership secretary Gillian Jackson on 01258 453376.

Additional information:

Help is also available to those who are perhaps shy or frightened to meet new people or join new groups.  A single phone call to the membership secretary or any one of the committee members listed on the ‘contact us’ page will bring a friendly and sympathetic response and an introduction to a mentor to help you over that initial hurdle.
