Lunch Clubs

What does it do?

Our lunch clubs offer the chance to socialise and to enjoy a hot lunch with friends on a weekly or monthly basis.  Lunch Clubs currently take many different forms but all of them are concerned with promoting the wellbeing of older people. For many active older people, this may be their first contact with Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland and so these clubs also act as a gateway to a whole range of other services.

Our lunch clubs take place in a number of locations including:

• Birstall
• Earl Shilton
• Evington
• Loughborough
• Market Harborough
• Oakham
• Sapcote
• Thurmaston
• Uppingham
• Whissendine

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland has also supported the development of independent lunch clubs that meet the specific dietary and cultural needs of elders from black and Minority Ethnic Communities. Lunch clubs designed to meet the needs of Asian Elders are provided at our Catherine House Resource Centre in Evington.

Who it is for?

These groups help to meet the needs of older people who may be physically active but experiencing difficulties because of social isolation or bereavement.
