Day services

Day services in Suffolk

What does it do?

Day services and centres offer support for older people who live within the local community. The service is managed by us but led by our older members, who can choose the daily activities or plan ahead for a special event.

A regular day or morning out provides good company and fun, as well as improving general well-being, maintaining skills and independence offering the opportunity to learn something new and providing mental and physical stimulation.

This, along with a tasty home cooked meal creates a great experience for all.

The time out is also a way of providing regular respite for those who require care. The family carer is then able to catch up on tasks or have some all important time for themselves knowing their loved one is being well cared for.

Our members have chosen a wide range of things they like to do:

•Crafts & Gardening

•Speakers on a wide range of subjects

•Music therapy and singing

•Theme for the day, pub lunch the wild west

•Exercises - music and movement

•Computer skills

•Outings to places of interest, the theatre or classic cars and a picnic

•Games, quizzes

Our staff are trained and enthusiastic about working with older people to encourage both old and new hobbies or activities they would like to do. The emphasis is on maximising enjoyment in safe surroundings.

Other opportunities available (depending on location)

•Nail care and hand massage
