Short Break Service

What does it do?

This is a flexible service enabling carers to take a break by providing a well trained and police checked care attendant from a local approved agency to stay with the friend or relative in their own home, or take them out. 

Who it is for?

The service is available to people who look after a friend or relative who has an illness or disability and cannot be alone. To take advantage of this service the cared for person must be 18 years of age or over.

Where it is available?

Local service (East Dorset, West Dorset, Weymouth & Portland, Christchurch, North Dorset, Purbeck).

What it costs:

Please contact us to find out how to access this service. Due to the funding from Dorset County Council there is only a small charge of £4 per hour for the Short Break Service.

Call Help and Care's Carerslink help line on 0300 111 3303, Monday to Thursday from 9am - 5pm and Friday's from 10am - 4.30pm.
