Befriending Service

Befriending service

What does it do?

We run a number of befriending schemes. We support volunteer befrienders to visit people's homes providing friendship and that little bit of support for lonely and less mobile older people.

Help at Home Befriending Visitor and Telephone Buddy Scheme

Help at Home is available in the Shropshire Council area.

One of our volunteers had these kind words to say about the scheme, 'I recently signed up to your befriending scheme and was paired with a lovely man, who sadly died this week. I know I made the last few months of his life so much nicer by popping in for a 30 min chat every week or so. I discovered all kinds of things through this cheeky veteran, who told me of bad nightmares about the war and beautiful dreams of his family. Thank you for giving me the opportunity.'

Neighbourhood Contact scheme

The Neighbourhood Contact scheme is available in the Telford & Wrekin Council area. Contact the Telford office for more information.

Volunteer Visiting scheme

The Volunteer Visiting scheme is available in Telford & Wrekin. Volunteers visit older people in their own homes, providing friendship and support. Visits take place at times to suit both volunteer and service user and can vary from once a week to once a month.

Volunteers can bring shopping, play a game of cards or just chat, whatever the older person wishes to do. For more details, contact the Telford office on 01952 201 803.
