What does it do?
The service can adapt your home to make things easier for you or your carer.

- wider doors
- wheelchair-accessible ground floor bedroom or bathroom.
Who it is for?
For anyone who is disabled or has a long term illness.
Where it is available?
Local service (Bournemouth).
What it costs:
You must receive certain benefits or have a financial assessment. You may be entitled to a Disabled Facilities Grant if you:
- own the home you live in
- are a private tenant
- are a housing association tenant.
How to access or apply for it:
Contact Bournemouth Care Direct to ask for an assessment by an occupational therapist or complete an online form.
What to expect then:
An occupational therapist will visit you at home to assess your needs. If an adaptation is recommended, then you will be advised as to how the work may be funded.
